Is it the steroids scandal?
Is it when Pete Rose got busted?
Is it the 1919 Chicago White Sox?
Is it the player’s strike?

the strike, what can be worse than no baseball at all

1919 CHicago Black Sox. Almost ruined baseball. Ruinded Shoeless Joe Jackson for sure.

1919 Black Sox..throwing games is a disgrace to the game!

Guy getting killed by a pitch.

RAY CHAPMAN: Chapman, an Indians outfielder, is the only player to die from an injury sustained in a Major League game. He died Aug. 17, 1920, of complications from a skull fracture resulting from being hit by a pitch by the Yankees’ Carl Mays. Chapman played nine seasons for Cleveland, and was batting .303 — his career-high for a full season — at the time of his death. He was 29.

i go with the 1919 black sox scandal

Steve Bartman – 2003 cubs playoff game.

The Black Sox Scandal. The strike was bad but it happens in sports these days now. (IE look at hockey)

Steroids could get there but haven’t proved enough people to be on the juice to be deemed the worst incident in history.

CWS whole team threw series while Pete Rose just bet on games not involving Reds.

When the cubs got screwed out of the world series

The strike…think about it, it stopped an entire season from being played.

Did the 1919 Black Sox prevent a season from being played?

Did Pete Rose prevent a season from being played?

Did steroids prevent a season from being played?

Did a ball killing a guy prevent a season from being played?

The strike stopped baseball…worst incident

Having Bud Selig as a commissioner

Allowing any MLB teams in Florida.

The worse thing/people to happen to baseball are: Mark Mcgwire, Barry Bonds, Rafael Palmeiro, Sammy Sosa, Pete Rose, Jason Giambi (sorta), Jose Canseco and the 1919 White Soxs team ——- cheaters make everything sour

The first thing that comes to mind is Juan Marichal bashing an unsuspecting Johnny Roseboro over the head with a bat during the game. For any player (especially a Hall of Famer) to do that is simply uncalled for.

no its the all-star game ending in a tie a few years back because Bud Selig is not a fan favorite.

Great question!

Worst incident for an era is steroids – it’s ruined the game…

Worst incident for a season is the strike back in 1994, which led to steroids getting pumped into the game to get fan interest back (ya know, the whole “chicks dig the long ball” crap), with a close second to the Black Sox…

Worst incident in a game is tough – Disco Demolition Night was pretty friggin’ awful; Cordero throwing a chair into the stands a couple years back; any number of brawls can be selected; coaching rants and other misdemeanors. But I’m gonna go with those knuckleheads who tried to slice up the KC Royals first-baes coach. Shameful – absolutely shameful…

I think it was the players strike.I was too young to remember it but I have heard soooooo many people say that is when they lost interest in baseball completely.I think the 1919 White Sox were bad too but it doesn’t seem as bad because it was so long ago so we don’t see the effects still. We definitely still see the effects of the strike.

Great Question! I gotta say tho it was probably the players strike.Whenever there is a strike it hurts the sport.

I’d have to go with the strike, that’s when baseball lost alot of fans, and those of us who stuck had a crummy summer. Some of the smaller market teams still haven’t come back completely from the strike. The 1919 Black Sox Scandal was a close second, it’s repercussions are still felt today. It led to the draconian anti-gambling rules, which led to Pete Rose being kept out of the HOF. It led to the creation of the Commissioners office, as well as higher salaries for players.

The Red Sox being allowed to play in the league.

Black Sox

The Roids

Black Sox, with roids coming in a close 2nd
